Aretos exists to help leaders find their center – and hold it. The firm was built on thirty years of operating and advisory experience across boardrooms, turnarounds, and organizational crises. That experience produced the Leadership Compass: a four-direction framework — clarity, resilience, trust, and purpose — that forms the foundation of everything Aretos does. The work is practical, grounded in real experience, and designed to produce capability that clients keep long after an engagement ends.
The name “Aretos” draws from the Greek root aretē, meaning excellence in virtue and purpose — the harmony between character and action that defines true leadership.
Organizations perform best when leadership and culture move in the same direction. We help leaders align clarity, trust, resilience, and purpose so they can scale both integrity and results, strengthening decision-making, engagement, and enterprise performance.
Shared understanding of priorities and direction.
Integrity and transparency that enable confidence.
Strength and adaptability under pressure.
The “why” that keeps performance meaningful.
Eric Mahler is the founder of Aretos Advisory and the author of The Center of the Compass: A Guide to the Power of Steady Leadership in an Age of Disruption (Amplify Publishing, November 2026).
He founded Fulcrum Consulting and led it through twenty years of growth before its acquisition in 2022. He has served and advised boards across public, private, PE-backed, and nonprofit organizations and co-founded Alpine Wolf Capital. His advisory work spans three decades, including Fortune 500 and Global 50 organizations, turnarounds, technology transformations, and leadership transitions across industries.
The Compass framework emerged from that experience and forms the foundation of everything Aretos does. The firm brings together senior advisors, operators, and governance specialists who apply it across board advisory, executive leadership, diagnostics, and AI governance — with the same standard of judgment and trust that the framework requires.
Aretos Advisory works alongside a growing network of advisors, thinkers, and institutions committed to building coherent, high-trust organizations and societies.
